Building a Sextant Day 3

Not much happened yesterday, but today was noteworthy! Randy and I are on the last step, and we are only waiting for the glue to dry. The glues were changed from a hot glue gun to standard Elmer's glue due to the fact that the pieces were getting to thick. We went down to the beach to test the sextant, and it worked it was extremely intensely amazingly close to the zero on C6!

Black Hole PBL Questions

Essential Question:

Are black holes in movies the same as in real life?

Facts:

They are made from a distortion in space-time.

They reflect no light, thus being called a black hole.

Today, when I came into school, I unpacked my things, and then went to community time. After that I had standardized testing, and then had brain break. After that I had FLVS time. Then lunch came, kickball and more FLVS time. Now reflections time, then clean up then checkout.

Today, Yesterday Tuesday, September 28, 2010

Yesterday, was a normal day. I had flvs time, then a brain break, and then had PBL time. Then lunch came along. I lost in kickball, and the I hade more flvs time, and then had music. Then I cleaned. Then the day ended.

Today, was a different schedule. In the morning I came in had community time, and then did the ITBS standardized test. Then I had FLVS time. The I played tennis, and had more FLVS time. Then I cleaned then the school day ended.

Today, I came to school. I started unpacking my backpack, and then I went to community time. There I learned that design class was changed to 1:45 pm. So then I worked and completed two module tests. Then I had lunch and went to tennis. After we had design, and the day is over.

Carnivorous Plant Dissection

I dissected a carnivorous plant today, and I found tons of bug's remains.

Carnivorous Plant Information:

Pitcher plants have "lids" to keep out rainfall. They grow in soils that don't have many nutrients. They have deadly nectar.

If something touches a venus fly trap's trigger hairs twice in 30 seconds it causes it to close trapping whatever is inside. They grow in soils with low nutrients. They are very rare to find in the wild.

Sundews grow in low nutrient soils. They have sticky bubbles on the outside that look like water, but when a bug goes up to it it gets stuck to it, and the more it struggles the more it gets caught so then the sundew's red bubble is acid which breaks it down.

Tropical Pitchers can have really big pitchers. They grow off the end of leaves. They grow on other trees.

August 25, 2010 OH Day

We went to school this morning, and then wrote on the lists asking what is the best food, if you were a mad scientist what would you create, and what is the best villain. After that, we went to the couch and voted on our new mascot (The OH Vipers). After that we had a 90 minute focus time. Then we went and had a community brain break. So we had another 90 minute focus time after that. Then we ate lunch at Cowgirl Kitchen, and played kickball. So we had music for an hour, and now school is almost done.
